Happy New Year to all our readers!

Having had the first Committee meeting for at least 5 years and taking into account my comprehensive survey of members we have done the following;

  • we will be reintroducing the £10 membership for which you will get the benefit of useful e mails such as this and a discount on non members prices for each event

  • we will not be playing the Captains Knock out if for no other reason than the current holder has disappeared with the cup!!

  • We  have tried to take account of the current economic climate and the age of the majority of the members (ie close to being knackered!) and booked the following courses

30th March Woking Golf Club with a start at 11.15 after coffee and bacon rolls for 18 holes with Sandwiches to follow at £49 for members and £59 for guests

27th April Woodcote Park Golf Club tee off 1.30 preceded (that means before!) by sandwiches 18 holes £44.50 for members and £54.50 for non members. This may be reduced by the fact that OWGS has a number of Woodcote members who will ‘throw in’ their green fee to reduce the cost for everyone else

22nd June Betchworth Park 27 holes preceded by coffee and bacon rolls then a 3 course lunch and afternoon tea when we get in. The format will be 18 hole stableford am followed by a 9 hole team game after lunch. Cost £69.50 for members and £79.50 for non members

29th October St. Georges Hill 27 holes breakfast, lunch and dinner for £108 for members and £118 for non members

I hope to fit in another one in September probably back at Tandridge for 18 holes. I will also be operating a 20% discount on the St. Georges day for all those members who attend at least 2 other events (excluding St. Georges)

I hope we have reflected the mood in terms of cost but I am sure some will not be happy! As an example Hankley wanted £103 this year and Addington wanted £99. I think the courses we have got are good value and are not too bad to play on either. The good thing about Woodcote is that you can always get a cab back from one of the members if required!!!

We have offers of sponsorship from Ian Skinner for St. Georges; Dicky Sherwin for Woodcote; so we need sponsors for Woking and Betchworth please

I will send out a note on the first outing nearer the time but feel free to send your £10 subs to;
